Calvin, it should be noted, supported a colonization project of the Huguenots to Brazil in 1557 and also a settlement in Florida (1562). The latter was destroyed when the Spanish put the Huguenots to death. Calvinism spread, with The Reformed Tradition 27 its emphasis on worship, on theology, on representative government in ecclesiastical as well as political structures.
