I’ve been known to go to the post office or the supermarket, where there are very accurate scales, but you may have a food scale at home. Let’s say your 6-inch (15cm) swatch weighs ¼ ounce (7g). Now multiply three swatches by ¼ ounce (7g) for a total weight of ¾ ounce (21g) pulling down on your top swatch. Use the scale to find out how many clothespins or earrings or brooches make up ¾ ounce (21g). Hang your swatch overnight with this amount of weight evenly distributed across the bottom. Take off the weights and let it rest while hanging for a few hours.
